Nowadays the Electricity Bill cost is too high. For the reason that the alternative solution is solar electric energy. In this post, we are going to look at What is Solar Panel? How it’s Works? Monocrystalline vs Polycrystalline Panel.

What is a Solar Panel?

The Solar Panel which captures energy from the sun and it would turn into electricity. There are 3 types of solar panels are available on the market.

  1. Monocrystalline
  2. Polycrystalline
  3. Thin-film amorphous

How Solar Panel Works?

The Solar panel has layers of crystalline silicon cells. When the sunlight interacts with the silicon cell. It will cause a electrons movement, which initiates a flow of electric current. This is known as the Photovoltaic effect.

  1. The Silicon Solar cells will absorb Solar Radiation.
  2. When the sunlight interacts with the crystalline silicon cells, the electrons began to move, because of creating a flow of electric current.
  3. It would be a Direct Current (DC) electricity to a solar inverter will be converted to Alternating Current (AC) electricity.

Polycrystalline solar panels and Monocrystalline solar panels

These two panels are producing energy from the sun. There are some important differences to be aware of. Both Panels are good choices for your home. The main difference is a type of silicon cell they use.

Monocrystalline solar panels

Monocrystalline solar panels are also called premium solar product. The advantages of monocrystalline panels are higher efficiencies and sleeker aesthetics.

The monocrystalline panels have solar cells made from a single crystal of silicon. So that the electrons that generate a flow of electricity have more space to move. As a result, monocrystalline panels are more efficient compared to other panels.

Polycrystalline solar panels

Polycrystalline or Muticrystalline is a newer technology. But they have lower efficiencies than monocrystalline panels. The main advantage of polycrystalline panels is the lower price point.

The monocrystalline panels have solar cells made from polycrystalline silicon. so that the amount of waste silicon is less compared to monocrystalline, Also Polycrystalline panels will tend to have a higher temperature coefficient than Monocrystalline panels.
